MQA and iFi audio have iFi XMOS firmware version 5.30 ready for public download.
This firmware will work on all iFi products except the original nano iDAC and the iLink.
Magenta is the official MQA LED colour on iFi machines. However, on legacy machines without the Magenta LED option, when an MQA file is played, the LED colour will be White/Yellow corresponding to the 384kHz file being played. The actual LED colour is cosmetic – once firmware v5.30 is installed, the correct MQA filter is activated during MQA playback.
The nano iOne CAN be upgraded to full LED functionality, ie Magenta LED, BUT it will need to be returned to iFi audio. The MCU (Master Control Unit) needs to be updated and this is a special process. Please open a Support Ticket at http://support.ifi-audio.com/ for more information. Nano iOne upgrades will be available from 1st June 2018.
This firmware will enable those who have TIDAL (on their computer) and/or MQA compatible music files and playback software such as Audirvana to run MQA on iFi devices.
If you have recently purchased the new xDSD and wish to optimise your device for DSD512 rather than MQA then please install Version 5.2/5.2B ‘Limoncello’**.
How to upload the MQA firmware
Non-iFi customers should NOT download this firmware for other non-iFI XMOS devices. This firmware is proprietary XMOS firmware and is for iFi-specified products only. You risk damage to your machine if you attempt to flash your non-iFi XMOS devices with this firmware.
