Bluetooth. Better.

Connect the iOne to your amp and relax.

Stream Spotify, Apple Music or Tidal wirelessly from the comfort of your favourite armchair using your phone, iPad or laptop.

The iOne has both aptX™ and AAC™ Bluetooth® for CD-like quality. With standard Bluetooth®, the sound quality drops by 30% but not so with the iFi Bluetooth® implementation.

Your sound. Your way.

Whether you are finishing first on Forza 4, singing along to The Greatest Showman or jamming with John Coltrane, the iOne is the one that you want.

DAC (Digital-to-Analogue Converter)

DACs convert digital information, stored or streamed by computers, into music we can hear through speakers or headphones.

Every device that’s a source of digital sound has a built-in DAC (TVs, games consoles, CD players, phones, portable music players etc). Dedicated external DACs sound much better than standard DACs used in digital devices such as phones.

DSD (Direct Stream Digital)

DSD is a very high-quality digital audio format that’s even better than CD quality. The higher the ‘DSD rate’ – DSD64, 128, 256, 512 and 1024 – the greater the amount of music information available, which means better sound quality.

Files can be remastered to higher file rates to improve sound quality. The pinnacle of this is DSD1024. Not many machines out there are capable of this feat.

Bit-Perfect

If a file is “Bit Perfect’ it means it has stayed the same. For example, if a PCM file is played through a DAC to improve the sound quality and the DAC does not change the file format. The file is ‘Bit Perfect’.

aptX

aptX Bluetooth transmission is found in most Android phones, media players, Apple computers (macOS on iMacs and MacBooks) and on higher-quality Bluetooth headphones. It is not available on iOS (iPhones and iPads use Advanced Audio Codec).

AAC

AAC is one of the most commonly-supported Bluetooth codecs in the wireless headphone and speaker markets. It’s also the default audio compression codec used by Apple’s iTunes and YouTube and is supported across both iPhone and Android smartphones.

File formats

MP3 – this is the most popular format, every device in the world can use it.

DSD – Direct Stream Digital is a very high-quality audio format, better than CD quality. The higher the number (sample rate), the better the recording – DSD64, 128, 256, 512 and 1024.

PCM – Pulse Code Modulation is the most common format for CDs and DVDs.

DXD – Digital eXtreme Definition is a very high-quality PCM format. It was developed to edit hi-res (high quality) recordings recorded in DSD.

Active Noise Cancellation

Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) reduces unwanted sound by the addition of a second sound wave specifically designed to cancel out the first. This basically results in no sound at all as it reaches unwanted sound even at the lowest frequencies.

Passive noise cancellation is done by means of insulating filters and works best on the middle to high frequencies. It does not work on the lower frequencies meaning that some sound can still be heard.

Galvanic Isolation

Galvanic isolation is a design technique that separates electrical circuits to eliminate stray currents that contain noise. Signals can pass between galvanically isolated circuits, but stray currents, such as differences in ground potential or currents induced by AC power, do not pass. This means little or no noise interference to the audio signal from stray currents.

Listen to Master Quality Authenticated audio straight out of the box. Connect to Tidal Masters and check the option to stream MQA.

MQA is an award-winning audio technology that enables music fans to stream the original master recording into their home, car or on their mobile. In the words of Gilbert O’Sullivan, iconic Irish-born singer-songwriter, “The great thing about MQA is that it delivers the finesse that was there in the desk sound. It’s tremendous, it sounds really good.”

Our video tutorials on You Tube show you how.

Hi-Res True Native® playback of all music formats from MP3 to DSD256, PCM384 and DXD384.

The Burr-Brown True Native® chipset means file formats remain unchanged or ‘bit-perfect’. This means you are listening to music as the artist intended in the format in which it was recorded.

At iFi we use Burr Brown extensively in our products having selected it for its natural-sounding ‘musicality’ and True Native architecture. Our experience with this IC means we know how to make the most of it.

A galvanically isolated SPDIF output means that electrical circuits are separated to eliminate stray elements – a signal can pass but nothing else. Interference-free audio.

And with added Reclock® and Regenerate® the signal remains true and strong.

Connect your phone or device wirelessly via aptX™ and AAC™ Bluetooth®.  Whatever your device, we’ve got it covered. Read more on iFi’s take on Bluetooth® here.

Quiet! Active Noise Cancellation+® (ANC+) at work!

Exceptionally quiet power. The measured noise floor is 100x quieter than the common noise filter.

Extensive jitter-eradication technologies are applied to the digital stage, including our GMT (Global Master Timing) femto-precision clock and the intelligent memory buffer.

The low-jitter crystal clock has been updated to provide >20dB better performance

Great USB DAC, also with good quality Bluetooth.

I wanted to use this with a computer and traditional amplifier and speakers, but also thought it would be nice to allow steaming from my phone or tablet too, since I did not have that arranged in my office system.

I connected directly via USB to my Windows 10 PC then into an older stereo amp and speakers. No drivers were needed and it all just worked by selecting it as the output in Windows. I configured my PC to leave the USB power on when shutdown, so I can use it directly from my phone without booting the PC. It also comes with a power supply if you just wanted to use it as a DAC and Bluetooth receiver in your hifi setup.

This product is great for this kind of use. The sound quality is excellent even with Bluetooth. Nice too that, depending on how you stream to the device, the front panel uses colour to show you what the source quality is too.

I liked this enough to add it to my main system for a while and played with a Mac Mini/Tidal/MQA source. It really is an amazingly good sound for something so small and reasonably priced. It also feels very solid and the flick switches add a little touch of class too. Tired it with Bluetooth, USB and COAX and all sounded very fine to me. I think you would be hard pressed to do much better at this price. Just as a test, I also plugged it directly in to my iPad via USB and that also worked surprisingly well too.

In summary, this seems excellent to add a DAC to a PC or Mac, or if you need to stream from a computer or phone with an older conventional hifi amp and speakers.

IFI IONE DAC: POCKET SIZED BUT STILL MORE THAN A HANDFUL

“For such small footprint the iFi iOne provides a wealth of features and flexibility, giving you a gamut of connectivity options. Whatever you do plug into this DAC, though, you will find a neutral and well balanced sound quality that gives you more music for your money due to its low noise output. Great value for money.”

nifty little device…

i have an older system and while upgrading components and speakers can be a tempting and costly quest at auditory nirvana, i currently have greater interests that distract me. looked into an affordable option to stream music through my stereo with the emphasis on decent quality sound.

i narrowed it down between this ifi Nano and the arcam rBlink, but ended up with the ifi since both came equipped with the same Texas Instruments DAC chip, yet the ifi was slightly less expensive. there are already a plethora of reviews on this gadget about the bluetooth stream quality and i mainly concur with them in its sonic achievements.

im unexpectedly getting enjoyment while using it with my CD player. i have an old Arcam transport that was considered very good back in the mid to late 2000’s. the DAC in the unit has to be close to 15 years old. so i decided to bust out my silver sonic digital audio cable from DH Labs and go from the CD player into this tiny ifi. it has nicely added a new dimension of sound i was not getting with just the CD player. it now sounds more spatial and holographic depending on the recording. now i was starting to notice elements in the recordings that i never picked up on before, especially on a few remastered discs, mainly in the higher frequency range. its gotten me to trek on down to the used CD store to fill a few bags with good ol’ fashioned discs.

Very impressive

I bought this product to replace my Logitech streamer (which was still working). I am able to stream Tidal master quality audio from my phone to this device. The sound quality is superb. The BT connection is stable a connects immediately to my phone. I had reason to contact technical support because of BT dropout (which ended up being my new phone).

The technical help was swift and helpful. I have now bought a second ifi iOne to give me BT connect-ability into my Linn hi-fi system. I hope it will give me years of trouble free service. I can highly recommend this device. Oh the size of the footprint is amazing, about the size of a pack of 20 cigarettes.

Sounds great

Moved from a Modi Multibit to this unit because the Mimby – to me – sounded very harsh on the top end. I couldn’t listen to it without getting fatigued very quickly. This unit sounds like melted butter – rich, full and delicious. I’ve been listening for hours…… love it.

Impeccable sound with no messy wires

The iONE is exactly what I needed. To be able to connect via Bluetooth with no messy wires is great. I use this to listen to my music and home and WOW, what an improvement.

There is now no excess noise and the sound is impeccable. Couldn’t have asked for anything better. Spotify no longer sounds tinny on the phone when I run it through my NAD amp.

Simple, clean sounding, clean looking

I primarily am using this for it’s USB DAC from my media server. It sounds great. It is powered by USB, which is nice since that’s my primary input for this device. My only complaint is that the stupid logo LED never times out and goes away.

Review: iFi nano iOne DAC – One isn’t the loneliest number

iFi’s nano iOne DAC is a technical marvel. There’s a lot of sophisticated engineering packed into this tiny device and while most people probably won’t be aware of that, they will surely enjoy the resulting sound.

Great for gaming. Amazing when combined with the iFi Micro iCan SE

Crystal clear sound and multiple inputs in a tiny package. This is what I’ve been looking for a while to use in my PC gaming setup. PC is my primary gaming platform, but I also have a PS4 for a few games a year I’ll play on that. Up until now I was an ifi micro ican se as my headphone amp. That thing is great with its bass boost and soundstage widening features. The problem is it really only has one method of input it can work with. This meant that if I wanted to use something other than my PC I would have to unplug my PC from the amp and plug my monitor’s analog out into the amp. With this guy I use the USB in for my PC and the optical in from my PS4 Pro. This dac/amp combo makes headphones sound amazing. Currently my headphones are philips fidelio x2s and it sounds amazing.

Serves as a link between portable technology and stationary equipment

Using the iOne as an interface converter gave a significant increase in quality. The scene was focused and became transparent, the bass was clearer, the vocals literally came to life. The sound picture retained its softness and nobility, but it was supplemented with many details – realism and naturalness had increased.

Our expectations of the iOne is not deceived. The sound is quite audiophile and it is great that Bluetooth made it possible to get sound of ‘pocket’ music on a serious system.
