Studio-Grade Sound, Wherever You Go.

Building on the rock-solid foundation of the GR 2 platform, this Master Tuned edition refines the details throughout, including precise component-level changes, and two exclusive digital filters showcasing Steve’s signature sound profile, created with our engineers and available nowhere else.

This is a true labour of love: decades of critical listening and studio experience, distilled into a form you can take everywhere you go. Now you can hear music the way it was meant to be heard, wherever you happen to be.

Key Features

The Burr Brown PCM1795 DAC chipset delivers true 32-bit resolution, lower distortion, and greater dynamic range. As a current-output DAC, it allows for greater freedom in the design of the analogue output stage.

Our engineers worked with Grammy and Brit Award-Winning producer Steve Levine to develop two exclusive digital filters – one for PCM audio, one for DSD audio, both capturing the balance and emotional potency of Steve’s signature sound.

A capacitive touchscreen OLED colour display allows for direct, intuitive control of the iDSD GR 2 MT’s extensive feature set, making more of the core features available without the need for deep menu diving.

K2HD restores harmonic content lost in the digitisation process of audio recording, recovering the depth and nuance of the original recording for a more natural and engaging listening experience.

The Man Behind The Sound.

Steve Levine is a legendary British record producer whose credits span genres and generations – from Culture Club and the Beach Boys to Gary Moore, Ziggy Marley, and Lemmy & Motorhead.

His contribution to music has earned him a number of prestigious industry awards, including a Brit Award, Musicweek Award, and a Grammy for his work with Deniece Williams.

Today, Steve continues to produce exciting new talent from his studio nestled in the heart of Liverpool’s Baltic Triangle, including artists signed to his own label, Baltic Jazz Records.

About Steve Levine

PCM1795. Pure Conversion Magic.

Every great listening moment starts at the source. At the heart of the GR 2 MT is the Burr-Brown PCM1795 DAC chipset, the same engine that drives the GR 2. It brings the warm, analogue character we're known for, now with more detail, less distortion, and greater dynamic range.

Around it, our engineers built a bespoke analogue output stage designed to draw out everything the chipset has to give. Every note arrives with more life, more texture, and more of the emotion the artist put into it.

Advanced Amplification.

Great sound is as much about the things you don’t hear as the things you do. With this philosophy in mind, our engineers rebuilt the amplification stage around a simple idea: get out of the music's way.

Class A op-amps give the sound a more natural, analogue character, while end-to-end fully balanced circuitry lowers distortion. Further improvements to the Master Tuned edition include audiophile-grade capacitors so every instrument sits in a quieter, more stable soundstage, and Audio Note Keisei capacitors to add warmth and richness to the midrange, right where vocals and other key instruments such as guitars can be found.

The result is lower distortion, greater transparency, and a sound that stays true, session after session. Perfection, redefined.

Control, Evolved.

Control should never be more than a touch away. A capacitive touchscreen OLED display puts your key settings right at your fingertips, with no more diving through menus. It's fast, clear, and responsive, and it feels natural from the first tap.

For an additional sense of prestige in the Master Tuned edition, the device logo beside the touchscreen is now fully illuminated – a striking finishing touch that gives the GR 2 MT the sense of occasion it deserves. Powering it on feels like an event, every time.

Headroom, Unlocked.

Some headphones ask a lot of their amplifier. The GR 2 MT gives them everything they need. With 50% more headphone drive than the xDSD Gryphon, it handles even demanding headphones with ease.

Bass stays composed, transients stay sharp, and dynamics open up freely. Whatever you're listening with, the music has room to breathe.

Freedom Without Loss.

Cutting the cable shouldn't mean compromising the sound. The GR 2 MT joins our latest generation of portable audio with Bluetooth 5.4 and aptX Lossless, a wireless experience that preserves every detail of CD-quality audio.

And for those whose setup requires the highest quality available before going fully lossless, LDAC delivers premium-quality listening. Total freedom, without the loss.

Restoring Musicality.

Digital recordings can lose the warmth and natural richness of the original performance, leaving music feeling flat or clinical. The GR 2 MT has the tools to put that right.

Using JVCKENWOOD's K2HD Technology, it restores depth, tone, and musicality, bringing back the subtle harmonic detail that makes a recording feel alive. Playback sounds less processed and more connected to the emotion of the performance, and the music comes closer to what the artist intended.

Prefer a lighter touch? 'K2' mode offers a similar enhancement without upsampling.

Power that Adapts

The GR 2 MT's hybrid power mode intelligently balances external power and battery operation for worry-free desktop performance. When it's plugged in, it prioritises external power, dips into the battery only when extra power is needed, and returns to the mains as soon as demand drops.

That means you can leave it connected for long listening sessions without constantly cycling the battery. Perfect for the studio. Perfect for the desktop.

Master Any Setup.

However you listen, the GR 2 MT fits right in. USB, Bluetooth, coaxial and optical S/PDIF, and dedicated line inputs let you connect the sources you love, old and new.

Headphone and line outputs make it just as versatile on the way out, whether it's driving your headphones on the move or sitting at the heart of a wider system.

Control Beyond the Device.

The GR 2 MT is fully compatible with iFi Nexis, so your control extends beyond the device itself. Through the app, advanced settings are easy to reach and fine-tune, letting you make the sound your own without complicating everyday listening.

Over-the-air updates mean the GR 2 MT keeps evolving too, adding refinements, features, and improvements long after it leaves the box.

*All USB-based iFi Nexis functionalities are additional features exclusive to Android devices.
