High-Performance DACs for Every Listening Setup

Explore the Collection

Our DACs are designed to unlock the full potential of your digital music. Whether you’re upgrading from a phone or laptop, improving your TV or console audio, or building a dedicated hi-fi system, iFi audio DACs deliver cleaner, clearer and more engaging sound. From portable USB DACs to fully featured desktop models, this collection brings together the right tools to transform the way you listen.

Why Do You Need a DAC?

DACs (digital-to-analogue converters) turn the digital signal from your phone, computer, streamer or TV into the analogue signal your headphones and speakers can play.

Most built-in DACs are designed to be “good enough” to pass sound and keep costs low. A dedicated audio DAC, however, focuses on reducing noise, jitter and distortion while preserving detail and dynamics. The result is more space, better separation between instruments and a more natural, lifelike presentation.

If you’ve invested in good headphones, speakers or streaming services, a quality DAC is the missing link that helps you actually hear the difference.

Our portable USB DACs are ideal for simple plug-and-play upgrades from laptops and phones. Desktop DACs add more inputs, higher output power and extra features such as sonic customisation. Many of our DACs also include built-in headphone amps, giving you a clean, controlled drive for a wide range of headphones.

Choosing the Right
iFi DAC

Different systems and listening habits benefit from different types of DACs. When choosing from our DAC range, think about:

Where you listen

At a desk, on the sofa, in a studio or on the move

What you connect

Computers, phones, streamers, consoles, TVs or all of the above.

What you drive

Easy in-ear monitors, demanding headphones or full hi-fi systems.

Features to Look For in iFi DACs

iFi DACs offer far more than basic digital-to-analogue conversion. Across many iFi audio models, you’ll find a combination of advanced chips, clever firmware and carefully engineered analogue stages that work together to lift performance well beyond “good enough”.

Many iFi DACs handle high-resolution PCM and DSD, giving you the full benefit of lossless services and local files. Selected designs support up to 768 kHz PCM and DSD512, with our flagships even reaching DSD2048 - so you’re not limited by format when you decide to push for true hi-res listening.

A clean DAC chip deserves an equally serious analogue stage. That’s why many iFi models use balanced or twin-mono amplifier topologies with carefully selected, premium components, and custom OV series op-amps. This approach helps reduce crosstalk, lower distortion and improve channel separation, so instruments and vocals are easier to place in the soundstage.

Audiophile design isn’t just about components; it’s also about layout and power. Our circuits typically feature dedicated digital and analogue stages, with attention paid to grounding, clocking and power supply integrity. This helps keep noise at bay, letting the DAC do its job without interference from high-speed digital activity.

In products built around our Hi-Res Bluetooth Engine, we support leading wireless codecs such as aptX Lossless, LDAC (up to 990 kbps) and AAC, so Bluetooth listening can closely approach wired quality. Beyond this selected flagship models include JVCKENWOOD’s K2HD Technology, which restores lost harmonics to reveal the character of the original recording. iFi is the only brand to offer K2HD outside of JVCKENWOOD, giving listeners a genuine point of difference and maximum fidelity from both wired and wireless sources.

In our entry-level products we use Sabre DAC chips from ESS, but we don’t just drop it in and call it a day. We customise the code and surrounding implementation to maximise dynamic range and distortion performance, squeezing more real-world sound quality out of the silicon than a standard off-the-shelf design. In our higher-end DACs we turn to the renowned Burr-Brown DSD1793. Its hybrid architecture handles the most important part of the audio in true multi-bit fashion, while delta-sigma manages the finer details. The result is a very natural, analogue-like sound that many listeners love. We even ‘hack’ the DSD1793 to achieve 768 kHz PCM and DSD512 support, far beyond what the original datasheet suggests is possible.

Digital audio is only as good as its timing. Many iFi DACs employ precision clocking solutions and intelligent jitter reduction to ensure data arrives exactly when it should. By minimising timing errors at the digital-to-analogue conversion stage, we preserve clarity, micro-detail and spatial accuracy—so transients sound sharper, decay feels more natural, and the music flows with greater coherence rather than a “digitally processed” edge.
