So what is Roon?

Instead of seeing a spreadsheet-like view of your music (similar to other media systems), Roon provides a very rich non-list based experience, using credits, artist relationships, genres, lyrics, concert/tour dates, artwork, and more.
This allows for a more engaging and immersive experience when it comes to navigating and exploring your music library.
Roon is almost like a friendly record shop owner.
They’re happy to talk to you about your favourite music and give you a host of information and knowledge about your favourite songs and artists.
They tell you things you never knew about your favourite songs, artists and the stories behind the albums you love – all those little details that give music even more life. With Roon, you can experience just that.
Roon isn’t just an app
While not being a streaming service in its own right, Roon instead takes control of your internet radio, your music streaming services and your own personal music files and sends them to audio output devices.
It cleans up your music library, upgrades the metadata associated with your music, and provides a user interface that is far richer than anything else out there. Roon makes music exploration and discovery both informative and fun.
It becomes your music ecosystem. It manages digital music files collected on hard drives and networked storage. It can also watch your iTunes library, and optionally integrate with the TIDAL and Qobuz music streaming services.
Roon brings all your music together, so you don’t have to worry about where it’s stored, what format it’s in, or where you stream it from.
Bit perfect audio
Roon provides no-compromise audio perfection. Bit perfect playback of lossy and lossless file formats, including high resolution audio content (PCM and DSD).
Additional conveniences such as crossfading and volume normalisation make it suitable for both concentrated listening sessions as well as social events.
Roon manages your audio renderers (the things that make sound). Whether they be built-in sound devices, like your laptop’s audio output, a USB connected DAC, or even networked audio devices.
Roon is also the only music player that can apply DSP to MQA content while allowing your MQA-capable DAC (such as the iDSD Diablo) to render the post-processed stream.
If a device isn’t Roon Ready, your Roon Core will automatically convert your audio to its most optimal resolution.
It’s a platform for all the music in your home
