International Women’s Day
Here at iFi HQ we love to celebrate magnificent sounding music and astounding artists who create the tracks we all enjoy. The iFi team believe music is one of life’s greatest pleasures and we are sure you are with us in that.
Today is International Women’s Day and to mark this occasion we would like to celebrate a few of the female musicians who have brought us not only music that we can lose ourselves in but who have also helped to build a music culture that is an inspiration to all generations.
What about us
When P!nk is not stunning us with her onstage acrobatics, she is dominating the radio with her on fire vocals. Since arriving onto the scene in 2000, she has proven time and again that she’s a pop music heroine! From belting out ballads to uber cool anthems, P!nk’s songbook is certainly impressive. And this is why, a couple weeks ago saw P!nk receive the well deserved Outstanding Contribution to Music Award at the BRITs. Here is what Jason Iley, BRITs chairman had to say about Pink;
“P!NK is a trailblazer, a phenomenally talented singer and songwriter, and truly one of the greatest artists of our time. It is a real pleasure to honour her at this year’s BRIT Awards with the Outstanding Contribution To Music Award. With her remarkable career spanning nearly 20 years, P!NK is one of the most successful artists in the world, consistently releasing multi-million-selling albums and selling out tours all over the globe. I am really excited to welcome her back to The BRITs and to recognise her prodigious success.”
Pink has always been a leader in powerful messages for younger generations to believe in themselves and we, iFi, congratulate Pink for her prestigious, well deserved award.
Next up is a lady who never shies away, she is a force unto herself and literally a power of nature. She shines, she inspires and she makes the most powerful music this generation are witnessing, we are talking of course, of none other than, Lady Gaga.
“Some women choose to follow men, and some women choose to follow their dreams. If you’re wondering which way to go, remember that your career will never wake up and tell you that it doesn’t love you anymore.”
Lady Gaga, alongside Mark Ronson, received at this Year’s Oscars, the Academy Award for Best Original Soundtrack. Her and Bradley Cooper performed their award winning tune, Shallow – we defy anyone to watch that and not have the hairs on the back of your neck stand up. Simply stunning sound.
Her message was loud and clear in her winning speech “This is hard work. I have worked hard at this for a long time…. If you have a dream, fight for it”. For all those aspiring young musicians, actresses, even doctors or surgeons, or whatever your dream may be- listen to the Gaga – Work hard, fight for your dreams- and your dreams will come true.
Last but by no means least, today, we celebrate our very own Adele. Adele won her first award in 2007 and has since gone on to build an impressive repertoire of worldwide awards.
The success of her album 21, has earned Adele numerous mentions in the Guinness Book of World Records. She was the first female artist to simultaneously have two albums in the top five of the Billboard 200 and two singles in the top five of the Billboard Hot 100, as well as the first woman in the history of the Billboard Hot 100 to have three simultaneous top 10 singles as a lead artist with Rolling in the Deep, Someone like you and Set fire to the Rain, all of which also topped the chart! 21 is the longest running number one album by a female solo artist in the history of the UK and US Album Charts. Impressive right? she is just a huge icon of our times and once again proves, that hardwork and perseverance really does pay off.
One of our highlights from Adele’s huge music collection is Skyfall which she co wrote and recorded for the James Bond film of the same name. The song went on to win an Academy Award, a Grammy Award and a Golden Globe for Best Original Song, as well as the Brit Award for British Single of the Year.
We love Adele, we look forward to celebrating your success for many years to come.
Women and Men alike in the Music Industry just fill us with so much joy and we have only touched the very tip of the iceberg today with your greatness. We thank you ALL for not only the amazing songs you give us but for the way in which you continue to inspire the next generation with your ability to shine bright and belt out superior sounding tracks.
Dream Big, Work hard…. You’ve got this.
