Are OTG cables similar to normal USB cables?

Is this OTG cable compatible as a file transferring adapter?

Answer: OTG is “On-The-Go” and is similar to a normal standard USB cable, except an additional pin is connected via a resistor. This resistor tells a phone or smart device, which is normally in “device mode” pretending to be a USB disk to switch into host mode, where it acts like a computer and can (for example) drive USB connected DAC’s.
