Thank you very much for your feedback. We are overwhelmed by the positive responses to the firmware update. In addition to the new Quad-Speed DSD256 support, most of you also reported smoother operation and improved sound quality. So all those months of hard work has finally paid off –thank you for your support and kind words.
However, as always, all software must have bugs (otherwise it is cannot be classed as software!). Again from your feedback, this latest release version has a teeny weeny erratum in one of the header files, hence it reports to the computer 24bit instead of 32bit. This is purely cosmetic and does not affect the normal operation of the nano iDSD in anyway. Nonetheless, we have looked into this and now we bring you the latest 4.02 update which solely addresses this.
Further, as the response to the upgrade has been much bigger than we have expected (you guys do want the latest and greatest, don’t you?), it is really clogging up our ticketed support system (hundreds of tickets per day!). As a result, we have now created a separate download page with full instructions. All versions of firmware are held there too, including the older ones, so you can flash back to an older version if you need to.
As with any firmware upgrade, there is a small risk of bricking your iFi unit. If something goes wrong during the upgrade for whatever reason and your iFi iDSD nano unit is bricked, you need to contact your retailer from whom you purchased your unit to arrange for repair. Hence we do not recommend the user to upgrade or downgrade the firmware just for fun. Only do the upgrade or downgrade of the firmware when necessary.
We hope you enjoy your iDSD nano even more than before. Rest assured that despite its diminutive size, it has shall continue to punch well above its weight.
